The Togo Series has been produced by applying various hand-crafted woodworking processes to a solid log made of chestnut timber. After being cut into a clean, straight form, the log has been stacked outdoors for many years. During this period, exposure to sun, wind, and seasonal conditions has resulted in natural marks and cracks forming on the surface. This stacking process has become the defining characteristic that sets Togo apart from similar products, giving each piece an unrepeatable surface identity. Following the stacking phase, washing, surface cleaning, refinement, and sanding processes have been carried out in a way that preserves the wood’s natural traces. In the final stage, the traditional yakisugi (wood-burning) technique has been applied. This process has increased surface durability and made cracks and textural transitions more pronounced. Weighing approximately 40 kg, the piece has been equipped with four heavy duty swivel casters. This caster system has evenly supported the weight and provided smooth and effortless mobility on carpets as well as on all types of flooring.
