The story of this colorful dessert, which takes its name from the Italian word maccherone meaning "little pastry", dates back to the 16th century. In 1533, Catherine de Medici of Florence, King of France II. She marries Henry and moves to France. Medici, who brought his own cooks with him to the palace, had macarons made to be served at the wedding. These small and round desserts, which were admired by the guests and spread all over France over time, turn into French desserts of Italian origin.
