Located
in the Northeast of Ghana and close to the Sahara Desert, Bolgatanga is the largest town in the region. Women in this region , where agriculture is difficult due to variable climatic conditions, present these beautiful baskets by weaving local grass by hand with plant-based root dye.
Basket knitters, the majority of whom are women, pass on this tradition from generation to generation, providing significant livelihood and employment in the region .
