Phoen Fossil Wooden Wall Object - Yakisugi Handcrafted

Phoen has been crafted from wood shaped over long periods of time in natural water environments such as seas, rivers, and lakes, without exposure to light or oxygen. This process, sustained over decades, has preserved the wood’s texture and structural integrity, allowing it to develop a distinct character. For this reason, each piece is unique; no two are the same.

The raw material has been sourced through careful searching and collecting in untouched coastal and natural areas. Each collected piece has been individually evaluated based on its form and surface characteristics. Following washing and drying, surface refinement and sanding processes have been applied. These procedures were carried out not to erase the material’s traces, but to make them legible.

In the final stage, the traditional yakisugi (wood-burning) technique has been applied. This method has enhanced surface durability and strengthened textural depth. The burning process has been carried out in a controlled manner, with the natural character of the material kept at the forefront.
