The repeated crosses on a wide, flat band create a rhythmic pattern between the dark oxidized background and the light relief. The continuous line of the edges holds the symbols together. Instead of enlarging a single icon in the center, the design replicates the symbol along the entire circumference, maintaining a consistent graphic language on all sides of the ring.
