The ‘Escape From Hometown’ series is based on
nature-referenced rhythmic flying forms.
The dominant tones of tranquil moments were
reflected, and the handmade and curvilinear shapes
of rural sections were abstracted.
Öykü Arda completed her Architecture Bachelor’s degree education in Bahcesehir University and contiuned Master’s education focused on Architecture and Urban Design in New York Institute of Technology. Since 2013, she has taken part in projects varying from interior design to urban masterplans and take part in national and international awarded projects. In her process is relevant to understand the relation across human-object-space. In her practices she underlines the importance of conceptual thinking, material process and incorporates a language that oscillates between the sculptural and functional.
She founded Around as an art and design practice with focus on digital/physical explorations and fabrication. Around like to explore new forms and ideas that blur the lines across fields of furniture and art. A multi-layered design dicipline with the aim in creating series of functional pieces with diverse exercises in search of inspirational moments in materiality, process and concept.
