I am Umut Barış Öner. I began working with clay not simply as a maker, but as someone searching for a new way to express himself. Throughout my twelve-year journey as a tattoo artist, I left lasting marks on people. Over time, I started looking for a way to bring those marks to more people and into everyday life. I have always wanted to create objects that would live in people’s hands for years—objects that are not merely used, but deeply connected with. MUUT MUD was born from this idea. For me, ceramics are more than a material; they are a surface that carries stories. Every cup and every object gains its own character through the meeting of earth, fire, and craftsmanship. Just like people, each piece is unique. The purpose of MUUT MUD is not only to create ceramics, but to show that art can become a part of everyday life. Every piece is made to accompany meaningful moments and to gather its own story over time. I am still learning, experimenting, and creating. Because, like clay, we are constantly changing and being shaped. And I believe that every story we think belongs to us is, in fact, a story of the earth itself. MUUT MUD — Stories Told by the Earth.
