Product Story
Kuro-tomesode is a type of traditional kimono worn by women in Japan, often preferred for important and formal ceremonies, especially weddings. It has a black background and a design along the skirt. The design is available only along the skirt. Kuro-tomesode has always been made of silk and may occasionally have a hiyoku (a layer of faux lining) attached with a slightly padded hem. A kuro-tomesode usually has 5 kamons (family coats of arms).
Vintage Kuro-tomesode kimono from before 1990. In the product, where the traditional Japanese pattern is applied, there are "Kamon" symbols that characterize the family to which the person belongs. With the help of belts called "obi", a completely traditional image can be obtained. In Japanese, Kuro means black tome and short sode means arm. Since it is generally used in weddings and official ceremonies, the short sleeve provides a practical solution.
