Product Story
Recall the moments when you lost yourself playing games with friends in the street during childhood. As the sky darkened and evening fell, our mothers would call us home. However, even though we were thoroughly tired from playing all day, we never wanted to stop those enjoyable games. In fact, we often wished to play even more, regardless of the passing time. This is precisely what the flow theory describes, as we immerse ourselves in an imaginary sea where we swim a little and are propelled by the waves, isolating ourselves from the outside world. When we played for hours on the street, we unconsciously entered this flow, and unless there was a significant cue, we couldn't break away from it. Sometimes this cue could be the darkening of the sky, and other times it could be our mothers calling us. So, until this point, our motivation and attention remained focused on one thing. A person becomes so focused and motivated on something (work, game, music, sports, worship, etc.) that other stimuli fade into the background. For instance, playing games on the computer or working on a project, we might not notice hunger or even postpone basic needs like using the restroom due to entering the flow and losing our 'self-awareness.' Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's Flow Theory emerged in 1975 based on interviews with people from various professions and impressions gathered from these interviews. Csikszentmihalyi first noticed the flow phenomenon when observing artists passionately engrossed in their work, neglecting even the most basic needs like food, water, and sleep, as they lost their 'self-awareness.' This realization influenced him deeply. Our first designs, including 'Öz,' were where we lost our self-awareness, and hence we decided that the story of the product should be the flow theory.
