She graduated from Istanbul Technical University as an electrical engineer. She started her first jewellery education in England, where she went to learn a language in 1988. After completing her professional career in international companies, she decided to combine her experiences that she has gained in education and business life, with her childhood dream.  Then with her artistic aptitude from her family, she attended various courses on jewellery making and established her own workshop and brand in this field.
The designer takes her inspiration from nature and life. She prefers original and boutique work. Because she makes each piece of jewellery by hand one by one via using traditional jewelery techniques, each product is different then the other. Berna Karataş, who sometimes performs works with discipline, obeying the rules and sometimes improvised without rules according to her mood, she processes each piece of jewellery one by one with love and care.
