Located in Rwanda's Northern State, at an altitude of 1,776 meters above sea level, just outside the town of Mukoto, the Tumba washing station has proven itself in quality since 2008. Built on an area of just 1.2 hectares, the station runs an impressive operation with 12 full-time staff and around 95 seasonal workers working during the harvest season.

2022 season, around 1,650 small-scale farmers delivered 290,000 kilograms of ripe coffee fruit to Tumba. These fruits are subjected to a rigorous sorting and flotation process to ensure that only the highest quality products are processed. Then, final checks are made on the pre-drying tables.

Tumba's machining process are raised drying beds inspired by traditional African structures. These beds provide ideal airflow around the coffee berries, offering an even and controlled drying process. The fruits are turned over regularly in order to prevent spoilage or mold growth. After the drying process, which takes about 25–30 days, the outer skin of the coffee fruit is mechanically peeled to reveal the green coffee beans. The resulting beans are then carefully stored in appropriate conditions.

The owner of the station, Venuste, is a former primary school teacher. Inspired by his father's dedication to the coffee trade, he turned to this business. Thanks to its attention to detail from his teaching days, Tumba has become one of the simplest yet cleanest stations to visit. Produced under the meticulous supervision of Venuste, the coffees stand out consistently year after year, earning a unique place among the many fine coffees.
