Architecture You Can Wear
With an emphasis on a three-dimensional approach that is part and parcel of the architectural eye, watches in this group incorporate color and structure, each element of the watch building on the foundation of a carefully crafted case. Brought into play is the architect’s “macro” understanding of what it takes to build a piece of “architecture you can wear,” not unlike the planning process used in a building structure.
Perhaps no project best exemplifies design icons of the 20th century and their work than our BUILDING TIMEPIECES project launched in 1998. Twenty architects, each of whom who had designed a museum or performing arts center, were invited to translate that the design into a watch, either literally or symbolically. The collection is as varied and textured as the buildings that inspired the watches.
