Born in 1984 in Istanbul, Beliz Mısırlı studied Fashion Design at Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and Couture at Paris American Academy. After living several years in Europe, she came back to Turkey and worked as a designer for luxury fashion brands.Beliz’s first collection, Boon, reflects her admiration for traditional Turkish handicraft and her connection to her family lineage. The work takes its design cues from vintage botanical illustrations and the intricate craftsmanship of the chinaware adorning her family elders’ homes. The nostalgic touch of Istanbul’s oldest artisans meets the opulence of silk in Boon’s sumptuous loungewear that could be straight out of a Slim Aaron photograph.
